Quick Facts

Safety & Efficacy of Hormone Therapy

Hormone therapy is a safe and highly effective option for most women, surpassing other treatments in providing superior relief from menopausal symptoms. When started at the right time, the health advantages it brings typically outweigh associated risks - including reduced cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and osteoporosis risks, while also promoting lean muscle maintenance, managing weight, enhancing sleep and mood, and supporting vaginal health.

Timing of Hormone Therapy

The best time to start hormone therapy is within 10 years of menopause. Hormone therapy can be started during perimenopause, when many women are very symptomatic with mood swings, hot flashes, poor sleep, and weight gain. Therapy does NOT need to be routinely stopped at age 60 or 65.

Non-hormonal

options

We also offer therapies for women unable to take systemic hormone therapy. These include topical vaginal hormones (estrogen, DHEA) and medications for hot flashes, sleep, libido, and anxiety. We are also happy to discuss supplements and holistic lifestyle changes.

Important Information

San Diego Menopause Clinic provides patient care primarily by telemedicine and patients must be physically in the state of California at the time of their appointment. San Diego Menopause does not serve as a primary care provider. Patients are required to have a healthcare provider who manages routine health care and general medical needs.

We do not accept insurance; however, we provide patients with a superbill that can be submitted to their health insurance for potential reimbursement under out-of-network coverage. Patients also have the option to use Health Savings Account (HSA) funds for our services.

Although we do not participate with insurance plans, we still collect insurance information to help facilitate coverage for prescriptions, labs, and imaging. Most insurance policies cover most of the prescriptions and labs ordered by our provider. This is dependent on your insurance carrier and we recommend consulting your insurance provider to confirm specific coverage, such as drug-formulary.

At San Diego Menopause Clinic, we are dedicated to offering accessible and personalized care to support you during the menopausal transition. If you have any questions or would like to schedule an appointment, please don't hesitate to reach out to our office. We look forward to assisting you on your menopause journey
