About Weight Loss

We are pleased to now offer FDA-approved GLP-1 medications as part of our comprehensive care for women in perimenopause and menopause. These medications are used specifically for patients who are overweight or obese and are designed to support safe, effective, and sustainable weight loss. Coverage through insurance varies widely; however, most plans require a body mass index (BMI) above 30, and some require an additional comorbidity or related health condition. For patients paying out of pocket, we are often able to keep costs more affordable—typically in the range of $299–$399 per month—by utilizing GoodRx coupons or ordering directly through manufacturers when appropriate. Our approach prioritizes both metabolic health and overall well-being, ensuring that treatment is appropriate, evidence-based, and individualized.

Weight Loss Q&A

How do weight loss visits work?

Weight loss visits for our established patients are $300 and include a full body composition analysis using our InBody 580 scanner, which measures body fat percentage, visceral fat, and muscle mass. This allows us to closely monitor progress and minimize loss of lean muscle during treatment.

Patients are typically seen at baseline, at two months, and then every three months until reaching a maintenance phase of every 6 months. Visits are currently offered in-office; telehealth patients may contact our office to discuss participation options. Patients should have completed standard annual lab work within the past year prior to starting treatment. For those with type 2 diabetes, we recommend ongoing management with an endocrinologist rather than initiating GLP therapy through our practice.

We welcome new patients whose primary concerns include perimenopause or menopause, as weight management is most effective when addressed within this broader hormonal and metabolic context. If you are a new patient, please visit our Fees page for detailed information on initial consultation costs and how to schedule your first appointment.

What is an InBody 580?

The InBody 580 is a medical-grade body composition analyzer that goes far beyond a simple number on a scale. Instead of only measuring weight, it breaks the body down into its key components—muscle, fat, bone, and water—to give a complete picture of overall health. Using advanced multi-frequency bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA), the device measures how electrical currents move through the body to determine intracellular, extracellular, and total body water, along with muscle and fat distribution. Because it does not rely on generalized assumptions like age, sex, or ethnicity, the InBody 580 provides highly accurate, individualized results that have been validated against gold-standard methods.

In just about 30 seconds, the InBody 580 delivers a detailed report that includes segmental analysis of each limb and the trunk, revealing muscle mass, body fat, fluid balance, and even cellular health. This level of detail helps identify important factors such as hydration levels, potential inflammation, and risk for chronic disease, while also guiding more effective exercise and nutrition strategies. By tracking metrics like skeletal muscle mass, percent body fat, visceral fat area, and body water balance over time—either through printed results or the InBody app—users can make small, targeted adjustments that lead to meaningful long-term improvements in their health and fitness.

How do I prepare for an InBody scan?

To get the most accurate results, please follow these simple guidelines before your appointment:

  • Stay hydrated the day before your test and drink water about 1 hour before

  • Use the restroom right before your scan

  • Arrive early so your body can adjust to room temperature (about 20 minutes if coming from hot/cold weather)

  • Stand upright for 5–10 minutes before your test

  • Schedule your test at the same time of day each visit for consistency

  • Do not eat within 3 hours of your test

  • Do not consume alcohol or caffeine for 24 hours prior to your scan

  • Do not exercise beforehand and wait until you have fully recovered, which can be 1-3 days

  • Do not apply lotion or ointments to your hands or feet

  • Do not wear socks, pantyhose, heavy clothing, or jewelry
